If you find any of these songs useful, please consider becoming a member of this site. I am happy and proud to be a member and it has been a great investment that has reaped huge dividends. I have gotten a lot more out of this site than I could ever hope to put in and I am genuinely grateful.
I am a semi-retired Folksinger, retired Army Bandsman, currently teaching Guitar Ensemble, String Ensembles, Concert Choir, and Recorder Ensemble, grades 3 - 8. Next time I retire though, I am going right back into folk singing. (It keeps me humble)
Songs are like children. They have to get out on their own and find their own identity. I started the process by writing them, but you complete the process by learning them, passing them down to young minds, and keeping them alive. I sincerely hope that one or two of my little songs will live on past the time when anyone will know I actually wrote them. It is the sweetest form of immortality I could possibly think of. You can find free MP3s of my folk songs on Soundclick.com
here.
Leave me a message if you drop by. I would love to know what you think of my primitive efforts. I will also be mentioning that my songs will be written down here, so don't get stuck in a loop. I have had to depend on people who are wiser than me in the ways of technology all of my life. It doesn't bother me, but I am grateful that they are so gracious as well as generous. If you need any of these in a different format, give me a shout and if I am not in the middle of concert season, I will be glad to consider your request.

>>>We Went over 70,000 downloads, so the next goal is to get to 100,000. (Maybe even by the end of the year? < hope, hope >) When I was first invited to this webpage, I never thought it was possible, but now I have to admit that I am genuinely hopeful.
>>>Three songs have gone over 1,000 downloads now. I can't wait to find material that is at least as useful. Any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated.
>>>Finally got the Sol-Feg files uploaded. I would love to get feedback on these.
I would love to hear if something you found on this page convinced you to become a member. I don't get anything for it and I'm not looking for bragging rights. I would just like to know if this page is helping out Mike in any way. I don't want his generosity to me, to become a burden for this site. If something else was a deciding factor, be sure and let Mr. Daly know about that as well. If there is anything that any one of us can do to keep this online, I'm sure we can find a way to get it done. Oh, and if you actually read down this far, thank you bunches. My students are used to me but I may be a bit overwhelming to the general public.

Product Number: 1012000413 Series: Guitar Ensemble Pages: 2
Description: This traditional song is a favorite in my area. My students usually only know the introduction however, so it is really fun to pull the whole piece on them. This is an ensemble piece for late beginner to early intermediate guitarists. The fact that they really want to learn it usually means that anyone can eventually master it however.
Product Number: 1012004219 Series: Guitar Solo Pages: 2
Description: This was a request by several of my students who wanted to be able to play the whole song and not just a "riff!" It is definitely an intermediate solo and there is no shorthand notation provided. This a Traditional Mexican Folksong that was later made popular by such notable artists as Ritchie Valens and Los Lobos. Enjoy.
Description: Mix and match three parts for Violin, Viola and Cello. No score, all parts with and without shorthand notation. My students had a lot of fun with this.
Description: This is another mix and match tune. These are for when you have players, but not necessarily the players you need. Just trade the parts around until they sound good. Maybe your Cello player is the best one to play the melody, or maybe you just need something to sightread. Any three instruments can play this, which is what I had in mind when I wrote it out. Sometimes I have some tiny groups, but they deserve some music to play as well.
Product Number: 1012004126 Series: Guitar Ensemble Pages: 6
Description: This is a second year guitar ensemble arrangement with chord accompaniment in the third part and an optional electric bass part. I included the shorthand notation because I have already written it out. I had a special needs student who was still relying on the shorthand notation, not because the student was "lazy" or stubborn, but because the student had frequent absences due to appointments. The student was able to keep up and even moved ahead some of the class so it was all worth it.
Product Number: 1012000385 Series: Guitar Ensemble Pages: 4
Description: This is an original composition that had it's premiere at Socorro High School while I was student teaching there. The Title means "The Splendid Fountain" and of course, there are many in El Paso. this is for the intermediate guitar ensemble, and can be slightly intimidating if it is not approached with understanding. There is a lot of syncopation and the inside parts are difficult to wrap your fingers around. One of my ensembles (and you know who you are) actually sightread this almost perfectly however!
Product Number: 1013000008 Series: Guitar Ensemble Pages: 2
Description: My 5th grade guitar ensemble and 4th grade recorders always play a few songs together at the end of the concert. This is one of the ones they chose this year. I modified this from on of the beginning recorder pages and gave it an introduction as well. This is published with and without shorthand notation. Enjoy.
Product Number: 1012004093 Series: Recorder Ensemble Pages: 2
Description: This is a song that my recorder ensembles keep asking to play in concert, so I finally gave in and wrote a two part sheet for them to use. It is written with and without shorthand notation. There is a shorthand notation sheet available on this site if you have trouble with it.
Product Number: 1012000394 Series: Guitar Ensemble Pages: 1
Description: If your ensemble has only been playing together for two to three months and you have a concert coming up, this makes an excellent second or third selection. Lots of talking points about chord construction and rhythm, but very low learning curve.
Product Number: 1012004157 Series: Guitar Solo Pages: 2
Description: This is a grade 2 guitar solo, with and without shorthand notation. More important, this is a very pretty song.
Product Number: 1013000013 Series: Guitar Ensemble Pages: 2
Description: This is a beginning guitar ensemble arrangement that was made by request. Some of my students wanted to play this for our spring concert and weren't satisfied with the idea of playing the guitar solo arrangement all together. So, here it is. Enjoy.
Product Number: 1012004071 Series: Choir Reduction With Chords Pages: 4
Description: This is a popular spiritual with a double meaning. When slaves were taught religion, they paid much more attention to the Old Testament than their masters. There were lessons to be learned about the path to freedom, and parallels in the stories of the Jewish People and their flight from Egypt. It was thought that religion would make them more docile, but it was really a metaphor for their own struggle for equality!
Product Number: 1012004050 Series: Guitar Ensemble Pages: 2
Description: This song is a little spooky and fun. Shorthand notation is included of course.
Description: This is another five note tune, meant to be played on all four strings. I do as many of these as I can because it is a real confidence booster for young players.
Product Number: 1012000542 Series: Guitar Ensemble Pages: 1
Description: This was a request from one of my former orchestra students who wanted to play lightly row on guitar. I wrote it out fast and have never really used it. If you want it in shorthand notation style let me know and I'll "Git 'er Done" as soon as I can (big thank you to Larry the Cable Guy for the Git 'er Done)
Product Number: 1012004127 Series: Guitar Ensemble Pages: 2
Description: First year guitar ensemble piece, with and without shorthand notation. Lights in the rear view mirror may be closer than they appear!
Product Number: 1012000541 Series: Guitar Ensemble Pages: 1
Description: The third part to this ensemble piece is deliberately written in P - I - M - A - M - I, arpeggio style. This is a great way to take a warmup exercise and incorporate it into an ensemble piece.
Product Number: 1012000536 Series: Guitar Ensemble Pages: 1
Description: Beautiful Christmas carol for late first year to early second year guitar ensemble. Enjoy.
Product Number: 1012000426 Series: String Ensemble Pages: 17
Description: Optional third violin (viola) part is included as well as a first part for Viola and Cello because they like to play the melody once in while too!
Product Number: 1012004049 Series: Guitar Ensemble Pages: 2
Description: London Bridges was originally written for very young guitar players as I had no hope of enticing the older students to play a "Nursery Song!" I'm amazed to say that I was wrong. Most of my students seem to have taken it from the bin on their own and they seem to want to play it. Go figgur!
Product Number: 1012000503 Series: Lead Sheet Pages: 1
Description: I wrote this while I was in the Army Band. I've had many opportunities to perform it since then and hope you will have even more.
