If you find any of these songs useful, please consider becoming a member of this site. I am happy and proud to be a member and it has been a great investment that has reaped huge dividends. I have gotten a lot more out of this site than I could ever hope to put in and I am genuinely grateful.
I am a semi-retired Folksinger, retired Army Bandsman, currently teaching Guitar Ensemble, String Ensembles, Concert Choir, and Recorder Ensemble, grades 3 - 8. Next time I retire though, I am going right back into folk singing. (It keeps me humble)
Songs are like children. They have to get out on their own and find their own identity. I started the process by writing them, but you complete the process by learning them, passing them down to young minds, and keeping them alive. I sincerely hope that one or two of my little songs will live on past the time when anyone will know I actually wrote them. It is the sweetest form of immortality I could possibly think of. You can find free MP3s of my folk songs on Soundclick.com
here.
Leave me a message if you drop by. I would love to know what you think of my primitive efforts. I will also be mentioning that my songs will be written down here, so don't get stuck in a loop. I have had to depend on people who are wiser than me in the ways of technology all of my life. It doesn't bother me, but I am grateful that they are so gracious as well as generous. If you need any of these in a different format, give me a shout and if I am not in the middle of concert season, I will be glad to consider your request.

>>>We Went over 70,000 downloads, so the next goal is to get to 100,000. (Maybe even by the end of the year? < hope, hope >) When I was first invited to this webpage, I never thought it was possible, but now I have to admit that I am genuinely hopeful.
>>>Three songs have gone over 1,000 downloads now. I can't wait to find material that is at least as useful. Any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated.
>>>Finally got the Sol-Feg files uploaded. I would love to get feedback on these.
I would love to hear if something you found on this page convinced you to become a member. I don't get anything for it and I'm not looking for bragging rights. I would just like to know if this page is helping out Mike in any way. I don't want his generosity to me, to become a burden for this site. If something else was a deciding factor, be sure and let Mr. Daly know about that as well. If there is anything that any one of us can do to keep this online, I'm sure we can find a way to get it done. Oh, and if you actually read down this far, thank you bunches. My students are used to me but I may be a bit overwhelming to the general public.

Description: Mix and match parts for those times when you have players, but not necessarily the players you need. I add to this as needed so tell me what you need and I will get it done as soon as possible.
Description: Another one page song sheet with all instruments on the same sheet. My beginners love these and like being able to see and play both parts. I try to use anything that encourages them to want to play more.
Product Number: 1012000310 Series: Guitar Ensemble Pages: 1
Description: This is a Guitar ensemble arrangement for late first year to early second year players.
Description: This is a version of the Ukranian Bell Carol that I arranged for second and third year guitar students at the high school level. I was student teaching under David Borrego, at Socorro High School, and he was gracious enough to allow me to put some music in front of his students. I will always be grateful for his mentoring and support during that time and anything I am doing right as a guitar ensemble teacher, I owe to him and his Mentor Teacher, a pioneer in the guitar ensemble field here in El Paso, Nestor Arzola.
Description: One of my guitar students was playing my violin before school (yes, I let them touch my instruments! How else are they going to find out if they like them or not?) and she started playing this phrase over and over again. t first it was mildly irritating, but as she got better at it, I started to hear something in it. I wrote it down and matched it up to a verse and this song was born. I will always freely acknowledge however, that the original idea was hers.
Product Number: 1012000814 Series: Recorder Ensemble Pages: 2
Description: This is a two part arrangement of a little song I wrote for beginning recorders. It is written out with and without shorthand notation.
Product Number: 1012004280 Series: Guitar Ensemble Pages: 2
Description: This is a little Boogie Woogie piece for first year guitar players, with and without shorthand notation. See if you can figure out why it's called the Caterpiller Boogie! Clue? It's all in the music.
Description: This is for a first recorder group. There are two parts and it can be played with or without accompaniment. I just play from the recorder part, but if you need chords or a specific piano part, let me know and I will get around to it as soon as I can.
Description: Beginning string ensemble piece, used to explore the pentatonic scale. The third part can be played on all open strings (or all closed strings for those who like the challenge) Any combination of instruments can play this piece down to three violins.
Description: Mix and match version, I will probably do a much better version in the near future, but in the meantime we have this. This is of course, the Mexican Hat Dance in it's original title.
Description: This sheet contains the following songs for classroom recorder;
Chimes of Big Ben, (New note, Low D) This Land is Your Land (New note, F#) (now in public domain thanks to the friendly folk at Jib Jab who got sued by Woodie Guthrie's estate and won their case) Twinkle Twinkle Little Star (new note low E) and Somethings Swimming In My Soup (nice little D7 arpeggio in that one) There are now words to somethings swimming in my soup, in case you ever want to sing them.
Product Number: 1013000021 Series: Recorder Ensemble Pages: 2
Description: The is another piece I put together from listening to my students. It is a two part arrangement for first year recorder ensemble. It is published with and without shorthand notation, is in the key of G major, and has the recorders playing musical chairs with each other. i hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
Description: No score to this one. (yet anyway) Just three parts that any combination of strings can play, as long as you balance them out. Students have a lot of fun with it and they really enjoy the idea that they can play all of the same songs that their piano playing friends can play. Sometimes I have to write piano parts out so their friends can get together and play at home. We even have students who play for talent shows!
Product Number: 1012004228 Series: Guitar Educational Pages: 1
Description: This chord sheet has one octave arpeggios (broken chords) in the circle of fifths, (C/G/D/A/E/B) some minor seven flat five to seven flat nine chords (two) and some diminished seven chords. The last line shows that if you lower any pitch in the diminished seven chord, you get one of four different five seven chords. This means that when you explore this concept, you can find any chord in any key that you need, within one fret up or down, of the position you are in. This is invaluable to anyone who is seriously studying rhythm guitar.
Product Number: 1012000381 Series: Guitar Educational Pages: 1
Description: This is one of the first sheets that I give my students. Instead of trying to teach them complicated chords on the first day, I teach them the E minor seventh with a suspension (The easiest chord in the world to play - The hardest chord in the world to say (not really, but that saying makes it even easier to remember) These are all one, two, and three finger chords that are related to each other, and that are playable by a guitarist in his or her first few weeks of playing.
Product Number: 1012004226 Series: Guitar Educational Pages: 1
Description: This is the third in a series of sheets I use in my classroom. This one is called Guitar chords: Lesson Three and it includes the open chromatic scale, a whole bunch of F chords (one of the hardest chords to master) some closed chords, (chords that can be moved up and down the neck) and a few more finger style patterns. I hope you find this useful.
Product Number: 1012000382 Series: Guitar Educational Pages: 1
Description: This is the second chord sheet I give my students. After I give them this sheet, we start putting chords together (whether they fit or not) and learning the awesome task of trying to jump from chord to chord. It is important to put chords together that students normally wouldn't play because it helps them to develop their ear. They will tell you which chords don't belong together, and sometimes you can tell them why they Do!
Product Number: 1012004091 Series: Children's Pages: 1
Description: This is a novelty Christmas tune that I wrote for one of my classes. They really seem to enjoy it, so I figured it might be time to put it on here to share. I am publishing it under Creative Commons (I really wish someone would walk me through the process of doing it legitimately) for educational purposes and am really looking forward to watching it go out into the world.
Product Number: 1012004140 Series: Vocal Pages: 1
Description: This is a simple round that I sometimes use with my beginning singers. It also functions as a traditional Carol. It's extremely useful to have this piece around.
Description: This is a tiny bit of every classical cliche we could think of. On top of that, we also lumped in together every silly thing we sing to help us remember these songs. when you put it all together, you get this extremely silly song. There's a little bit of Beethoven, Mozart, Handel, Offenbach, and many others. Enjoy.
Product Number: 1012000515 Series: Easy Music For String
Description: This can be played with or without the chorus. It is a simple, two part, mix and match with no score. If you need additional parts, I will be happy to ge them out as fast as I can. I wrote this for fun and we have had lots of fun. Every time we do it, I add a little bit more though, so eventually this may turn into a full fledged arrangement!
Product Number: 1012000446 Series: String Ensemble Pages: 1
Description: This is the Hunter's Chorus. One of my students wanted to play it, but the rest of the group didn't and he caved under pressure, so we're not doing it. I used the Spanish version of the name because we are about three miles from the border of Mexico and people like that sort of thing here. It is very popular and in lots of methods and solo books so I'm putting it here in case anyone wants to use it. If you need additional parts, just let me know. I never got around to transposing all of them because we never got beyond the first reading. Who knows, maybe someday I'll be able to use it too!
Description: This is a rhythm sheet I use to teach counting and clapping. the name of the song for number 5. is "Jingle Bells"
Number 6. is "Shave and a Haircut, Two Bits"
Number 9. is "Can Can"
and Number 10. is "Mary Had a Little Lamb"
Students clap the rhythms and try to guess the song. Lots of fun!
Product Number: 1012000557 Series: Recorder Ensemble Pages: 2
Description: This song is dedicated to my very serious but silly Wednesday Recorder Class. I am hoping that this will inspire them to take out their recorders and play. I put words to it because the words just seemed to pop out and insist on coming over to play. So, you can play this one, or sing it. Try not to do both at the same time though, or you will get a strange buzzy noise in your recorder sound (which can be fun too!)
Product Number: 1013000065 Series: Guitar Ensemble Pages: 2
Description: This is a beginning guitar piece that is designed to be used along with the recorder piece I wrote earlier. As a matter of fact we are going to use it that way for our winter concert. If you have a couple of different groups playing together at the same concert and don't want to experience the "walkout factor!" (My student is done so we have too much to do to listen to the other groups) have them play two to three songs together at the end and your audience will generally stay put!
Product Number: 1012000330 Series: Recorder Ensemble Pages: 1
Description: This song was a biting political satire when it was written. Now it is a lovely modal piece, made popular by composers such as Gustav Holst. (Second Suite for Military Band) There is something really special about learning a song when you are beginner, and then finding it again as you continue in your musical career.
